One of the hardest races of the season. Flat out racing from the start and lots of climbing along the way.
Got in the leading group of 8 after about an hour of racing. 3 riders managed to bridge across a bit later to make it an 11-man break. The pace never dropped and in the final 25km there were plenty of attacks.
I was feeling really good and went all in on the last climb. Initially we got clear with 3 riders, but after the descent we were with 7 again. The last kilometer was a bit hectic, and being the only one of the team in the first group didn’t make it easier. Didn’t really have a chance on the flat finish and got 6th. Took 1 bonification second along the way, so sit 4th overall now. Really looking forward to the next days to come.
South Korea is a beautiful country, and this area is absolutely fantastic for bike racing. It is great to see that all big Asian/Australian teams send their top line ups here. Lots more to come the next days!
